Our Story

It all started around a DND table- Kévin was nervous about including a native English speaker for the first time, and Cayla was nervous about integrating into an established party. We were both with other people at the time, and only ever met up for role-playing campaigns, so all that bloomed at first was a nerdy friendship.

After a few years of said friendship, Cayla finished her masters and was ready to leave Paris - which would have meant goodbye for good! We managed to stay in touch from opposite sides of the Atlantic, and after a few months, Kévin (in spite of his fear of flying) decided to buy a plane ticket to visit Cayla in the US.

COVID-19 restrictions extended the longest first date of all time from a 3-week visit to a 3-month stay. The more time we spent together, the more it was obvious we should give our relationship its best chance. Cayla moved back to France in the summer of 2021, shortly after Kévin adopted Fréki.

After years together, we spend our free time together than ever on more now-shared hobbies like hiking, powerlifting, learning about wine, and exploring new restaurants. (Of course, we still make time for DND!) We may have gotten a head start on our life together, but we are SO excited to share a celebration of our love with friends and family.

Getting Around Paris

For getting around Paris, public transportation is pretty reliable; GoogleMaps gives decent instructions, but we highly recommend using the app "CityMapper" for the most accurate instructions and estimated arrival times. For ride-sharing, Uber is readily available, but apps like "Heetch" and "Bolt" sometimes have better pricing.

Hotels in Saint Ouen

This modern hotel is half a block away from the civil ceremony and across the street from metro line 14 (a brand new metro line which goes straight into Paris)- not to mention a 10 minute walk from us and Fréki!

TRIBE Paris Saint Ouen

Another hotel option in Saint Ouen, this one is a restored mansion with a cozier vibe, only two blocks away from the civil ceremony and still within walking distance to the metro and our home.

A newly-opened boutique hotel that is within walking distance of our reception venue in the heart of the historic neighborhood of Montmartre.

Môm'Art Hotel

A modern hotel in Montmartre that is a 6-minute walk from our reception. (Mostly uphill- to keep in mind for anyone wearing heels!)

Hotel Élysée Montmartre

A 4-star hotel in Montmarte that is also a 6-minute walk from our reception venue.

Mercure Paris Butte Montmartre Basilique

Travel

Paris is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, so there is no end to the list of things to do, eat, and visit. This is a non-exhaustive overview, feel free to let us know if you want any additional pointers to make the most of your time in the city of lights!

Sightseeing

Paris Museum Pass: If you have a lot of museums and monuments on your to-do list, the Paris Museum Pass is a great idea. It is a little pricey, but it pays for itself after a few visits. Paris (100% French Cuisine)

Saint Ouen

Far and away the place we eat the most often- a "food court" with Moroccan, Taiwanese, Bolivian, Italian, and more: https://communalesaintouen.com/ A boullion is a must, while you're in Paris. Shopping

Citypharma is legendary for French skincare, but it's usually overrun with tourists, and checking out can take forever.
